Top Ten Tuesday: My picks for 'Books On My Spring TBR List'.

I love seasonal TBRs! They are, without a doubt, my favourite Top Ten Tuesday topics to fill out! Without further ado, here's my picks for Spring 2019.

1) 'Fierce, Fragile Hearts' by Sara Barnard.

Yay, a new book by Sara Barnard! I'm a huge fan of her books and I love the idea of a sequel to 'Beautiful, Broken Things' which was her debut and a book I loved. I can't wait to catch up with Caddy and co!

2) 'Starfish' by Akemi Dawn Bowman.

I love diverse books and I'm looking forward to reading this one! The MC is half-Japanese, and my upcoming wedding has me very excited for my 2020 Honeymoon there so I want to read more books that reference Japanese culture!

3) 'Shadow Of The Fox' by Julie Kagawa.

Speaking of Japan, this book has plenty of references to mythology and culture from the country and I'm super excited to read it! I've never read any of Kagawa's books before so I'm hoping this is a good one to start with.

4) 'Last Bus To Everland' by Sophie Cameron.

I adored reading Cameron's debut 'Out Of The Blue' last year and I can't wait to read her second book 'Last Bus To Everland'! I love retellings, and this LGBT+ of the story of Peter Pan looks especially intriguing!

5) 'And The Mountains Echoed' by Khaled Hosseini.

I received this for my birthday last year, and my sister has always recommended for me to read Khaled Hosseini's books! I can't wait to get stuck in, even though I'm 99% sure it will make me cry.

6) 'Illuminae' by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff.

'The Long Way To A Small, Angry Planet' by Becky Chambers really has me hankering for some more good YA sci-fi, and I'm hoping to find it here. I've heard really great things about this series!

7) 'The Astonishing Colour Of After' by Emily X.R. Pan.

This book was also a book I'd hoped to get round to a number of times last year, but it never happened. It really feels like a springtime read though so I'm hoping to get to it in the next few months.

8) 'Persephone's Orchard' by Molly Ringle.

The Goddess of Spring certainly deserves to have a retelling of her relationship with Hades read in her season! And whose better than Molly Ringle's, whose 'The Goblins Of Bellwater' I loved.

9) 'The Surface Breaks' by Louise O'Neill.

I love retellings. I love 'The Little Mermaid'. And I love discovering new authors. I get to all three here and I'm super excited! I've heard so many great things about this book too.

10) 'Paper Butterflies' by Lisa Heathfield.

Another new author to discover, I've heard a ton of great things about Lisa Heathfield's work! This book looks like it's going to be heartbreaking and make me super emotional as it covers some pretty hard topics. But I am trying to get better at reading books like this, so fingers crossed I can manage this one!

Top Ten Tuesday: My picks for 'Books On My Spring TBR List'.

These are always my favourite Top Ten Tuesday posts because I love looking ahead to what I'm going to read in the next few months. There was no topic for the Winter just gone either, which disappointed me. So glad I get to do this one for the next few months!

1) 'Reasons To Stay Alive' by Matt Haig.

This was a book that I borrowed from my sister very recently after she read it in one day and swears that it's one of the most enlightening reads she's ever got through. I live with a lot of anxiety, and at times, very unpredictable mood swings so I think this will be a really great book to relate to as it talks a lot about Mental Health and looking after ourselves. Not only that, but I'm desperate to start reading more Memoirs and Non-Fiction and this will hopefully be the first of many.

2) 'Thief With No Shadow' by Emily Gee.

This has been on the Fantasy list for some time, just waiting for me to read it. To be honest, my friend actually bought it for me ages ago and she's normally a very good judge of books. I wish that I hadn't taken so long to get into it, but at least I'm finally getting round to the books that have been on my shelf for goodness knows how long! The reviews for this one are...interesting to say the least so I'll just have to see how I get on with it!

3) 'The Loneliness Of Distant Beings' by Kate Ling.

I was approved to read this book by Netgalley and I'm so excited by that prospect because it looks so good! Also, it's set in Space! I haven't read an awful lot of Sci-Fi, but it's a genre that I generally enjoy when I do so I can't wait to get into some more of it. I have to say that the cover looks absolutely stunning too so let's just hope that the story lives up to that. I know that I certainly have high hopes.

4) 'Stargirl' by Jerry Spinelli.

This book is being hailed as a YA Contemporary Classic, but until I saw it on Netgalley, I had never even heard of it. I've looked into it since I was approved and think it sounds fantastic! Perhaps it will suffer from a case of Manic-Pixie-Dream-Girl-itus but that's not necessarily a bad thing if it's done right. I'm a little surprised at how short it is, but still I think this is going to be a great book and another one to add to the YA Contemporary checklist.

5) 'World After' by Susan Ee.

As you all know, I'm trying hard to get through some of the series that I started a while back and have yet to finish. This is one of those series. I read and adored 'Angelfall', recommending it to a number of my friends along the way. Now I want to read Book Two, 'World After', which I bought a few months back and have patiently waiting for me in my newly sorted book collection! Penryn and Raffe were awesome, and I can't wait to see more of them in this next installment of the series!

6) 'Truthwitch' by Susan Dennard.

Three cheers for Illumicrate, as they provided me with a beautiful hard-cover copy of this book! I cannot express how excited I am at the prospect of reading it! I've heard so many great things: great characters, a focus on friendship, and an interesting magic system! Fantasy is my favourite genre and I'm excited by this latest addition to the genre.

7) 'Burial Rites' by Hannah Kent.

Another very good friend of mine leant me this book ages ago and it really is about time that I read it and got it back to her! Especially as when I saw that she had it and she told me I could borrow it, I was so excited. She and I have very similar tastes in genre so if she liked it (which she did) then I've no doubt that I will! I'm looking forward to this read, though apparently I may need to bring tissues as it's end is very moving.

8) 'Allegiant' by Veronica Roth.

I'm so close with this series, and with this being the season that it's film is coming out (not that I've actually watched Insurgent yet) I feel like Spring is the time to do so. It will be another series that I can check complete with and tough I'm pretty nervous that I won't like it, at least I'll have got it over and done with. I've heard mixed reviews for the last book in Roth's series but everyone that I know, even those that didn't like it, has said that I really ought to read it.

9) 'Ironside' by Holly Black.

While I'm on the subject of series I would really like to finish, how about Holly Black's awesome Modern Faerie Tales series. I liked 'Tithe' and loved 'Valiant' so I'm hoping that this will be the cherry on top! Black writes Faeries really well. They're not just humans with wings and a few magic powers. They are totally different creatures that think and feel in a very unique way. Black's imagination never ceases to impress me and I hope that tis book gives me the same big smile that 'Valiant' did!

10) 'Sign Of The Four' by Arthur Conan Doyle.

I read 'A Study In Scarlet' at the beginning of the year because I desperately want to read the Sherlock Holmes series. I've been a fan for a while, loving the various TV and Film adaptations but never having actually sat down and read the books before. The second book, 'Sign Of The Four' is next on the list and I really want to get through another Sherlock Holmes story, as I loved the first one so much!

Top Ten Tuesday: My picks for 'Books On My Spring 2015 TBR List'.

I am very excited for my Spring TBR! I have always loved the Spring, not just because it's when my birthday is, but because it feels like a time for fresh starts! As spring is a time for new things, I hope to start a lot of series that I have been dying to get into for as long as I can remember! As well as that, it's time to do some spring cleaning and clear off some of that TBR pile that's been sitting around for so long!

1) 'Fractured Dream'; K.M. Randall.

This book has been sitting on my Kindle shelf for about a year now. If it wasn't a virtual read, it would be dusty! It focuses on a land where Fairy Tales go once they are created (sounds like my kind of book) and I really look forward to getting round to it, hopefully next month! This is a Netgalley read and that shelf certainly needs to be cleaned!

2) 'Mockingjay'; Suzanne Collins.

While visiting home yesterday, I bought the DVD of the film that I never got to watch at the cinema. While buying it, I thought 'I really ought to read this book'. It's the last in the series and I'm really excited about the prospect of finally getting to it! Hopefully it will be worth the wait, I'm seriously considering actually waiting until I've read the book before watching the film so hopefully I'll get to this book soon!

3) 'The Winner's Curse'; Marie Rutkoski.

I keep seeing this series everywhere, and determined to get into it I nabbed a copy of the next in the series, 'The Winner's Crime' from Netgalley. Now I have to read this book! I'm really excited about it too, it sounds like an awesome read and comes highly recommended by many parties. Time to catch up I think!

4) 'The Museum Of Intangible Things'; Wendy Wunder.

If this doesn't have a spring cover, I don't know what does! Something about this season ever so slightly puts me in the mood for contemporary reads and this was an obvious choice. I've wanted to read it for so long! It sounds like such an interesting story and I can't wait to see where it takes me!

5) 'Child 44'; Tom Rob Smith.

My flat mate has been pestering me to read this (with good reason I believe) for months. Seeing as her favourite book is 'The Book Thief' (as is mine) I can only assume that she has fantastic taste in books and this one will be an amazing read. I can't wait to get into it, especially as I recently bought 'The Farm' by the same author and have wanted to get into this man's work!

6) 'Garden Spells'; Sarah Addison Allen.

I read a Sarah Addison Allen book recently, 'The Girl Who Chased The Moon', and adored it! Allen is such a spring author too I just need to read another book of hers during these months. Hopefully I'll get round to this one, as it's actually the first book in a series rather than a standalone! I hope it's as good as her other work!

7) 'Ruby Slippers'; Keir Alexander.

This book has been on my TBR since last year for sure, as it was one of my Goodreads 'First Reads' wins! I can't believe how much I've just forgotten about these and really need to get back on track with them! It looks like an amazing story as well, I'm really looking forward to finding out what it's about. It is well reviewed so hopefully it will be worth the long wait.

8) 'Under The Light'; Laura Whitcomb.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, 'A Certain Slant Of Light'. I found it an original take on the afterlife and I'm in the mood for that sort of read again. One that actually makes you think a little. The cover for this one is absolutely beautiful too and I'm intrigued to see which direction Whitcomb will take for this final installment.

9) 'A Storm Of Swords: Blood & Gold'; George R.R. Martin.

Of course I have to have the next installment of one of my favourite series of all time! The fifth season of the show will be on next month and I'm really in the mood to make a concerted effort to catch up a bit more. It will be so fun too to spot the differences (as I usually do) and Martin never fails to blow me away with his fantastic writing skills!

10) 'Moon Over Soho'; Ben Aaronovitch.

Looking over some of the reads waiting on my shelf, I can't believe how long it has been since I read 'Rivers Of London'! I'm really settling into London now and embracing it's lifestyle, and I would love to be drawn back into the paranormal world that Aaronovitch successfully creates in conjunction with the city in this series. Time for the next chapter!
