Daily Shenanigans, 29/03/2014: 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'

So briefly, my day was mostly spent reading and Internet browsing. What can I say? I'm a slob. I had to go collect a parcel this morning which ended up being the two DVDs I ordered ('Thor: The Dark World' and 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire') and two of the three books I've been waiting for! 'Midwinterblood' by Marcus Sedgewick and 'Fearless' by Tim Lott are now in my possession! Hooray! I am very much looking forward to getting into them (if I ever get through 'The Telling Error', why is this book taking me so long?) Mat came round mid-afternoon and we spent a nice afternoon playing some Pokémon and chilling out, before heading off to the cinema to see the latest Captain America movie!

Wow, wow, wow! What a film! I loved it so, so much. The plot was great, the humour was actually hilarious and I loved some of the characters, old and new. Scarlet Johansson, Cobie Smulders and Samuel L Jackson were great in this movie, they took a bit of a back seat in the Avengers but really came into their own here! I wish Hawkeye had been in it, they really need to do more with his character. Chris Evans was wonderful to watch and I think this is his best portrayal of Steve Rogers/Captain America yet! Next, the villian. The Winter Soldier. He was a great twist in the story, I loved his development and for me, he was easily the best Marvel has produced after Loki (who will always be the villian for me, Hiddleston is just marvelous). But I cannot wait for more! Anthony Mackie was great as Sam Wilson/Falcon and I really hope we get to see more of him. Though 'The Avengers', 'Thor: The Dark World' and 'Iron Man 3' are still, I think, my top 3 Marvel movies, this came pretty close to knocking one off the pedestal, so well done for that!

Another day of pretty much nothing tomorrow, I must finish this book and post the review, as well as another Weekly wishlist, so that will take a lot of time. Also, it's Mother's Day here in the UK tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to a relaxing day with the family!

Daily Shenanigans, 27/03/2014: Goodreads sort out!

I've had a bit of a lazy day today if I'm being honest. I didn't really have all that much to do other than a few chores around the house. Excitedly though, I won another Goodreads 'First Reads' giveaway! Today's win is an exciting one, 'Good Kings, Bad Kings' by Susan Nussbaum. It looks very good and I can't wait for it to arrive!

I'm afraid I've been very bad with my reading today, though I will do some tonight before bed. I spent a lot of my day working on blog stuff, including today's 'Life Of A Blogger' post, for which the topic was 'Favourite Animals'. I really am enjoying this meme and look forward to next week's interesting choice, 'Handwriting'. As well as that, I caught up with my Bloglovin' Feed a little and managed to re-organise and tidy up my Goodreads account a bit. It's becoming a bit of a mess.

Other than that, today has been pretty uneventful. I have a couple of bits and bobs to do tomorrow before seeing Mat, including a trip up town and hopefully making a lot more headway with this book! I also have a couple of posts to plan, so lots to do!

Daily Shenanigans, 16/02/2014: Chilling with the boyfriend!

I'm not really sure how to describe today. It was definitely a 'lazy' day and I did an awful lot of sitting around. But at the same time, it was oddly productive because I was sitting around doing something. I woke up quite late this morning, I didn't sleep all that well last night and so I grabbed a couple of extra hours in the morning. After that, Mat and I quickly got up, dressed and ready for our day of relaxation. We spent a fair portion of the morning on the DS playing Pokémon Black/White 2 (Victory Road at last, hooray)!

After a late lunch Mat decided he would continue with 'Assassin's Creed 4' while I got on with some actual work. Let me just say that I am getting on like a house on fire with that Multimedia Script at the moment! I think I might post a snippet on here so that you get a better idea of what it's all about! I did a fair bit and let Mat read it for his approval. Afterwards, I took a 'break' (meaning I stopped for the evening) and spent the rest of my time entering Goodreads giveaways (I am hooked), blog post planning, eyeing up Mat's vast collection of books and watching him play his game. No, I did not get round to sorting out my reviews on here. Yes, I am a bad person. Yes, I do feel guilty. But I think I can be allowed this one, it was meant to be a weekend with the boyfriend after all. I hope you can forgive me, if it helps I read a massive chunk of 'If On A Winter's Night A Traveler' before bed last night, so I have been sort of good!

I have to be up early tomorrow, it's back to reality for me! I have a lecture at Uni, followed by work! I anticipate a busy shift as it's half term now so I will most likely be knackered afterwards!

Daily Shenanigans, 15/02/2014: I won again!

The day started off rather well for me! I woke up to find that I had won yet another Goodreads 'First Reads' giveaway! Hooray! This one is called 'The Hotel Fakir' by Adam Smolka. It's a short book (only 72 pages) and looks to be an interesting read which I look forward to! The rest of my morning was spent finishing short reviews of all of the books I have marked as 'read' on the site, and I am very glad that I've finally finished doing that! I plan to rejig the reviews I have posted here, as I think that the layout of my book reviews right now is a bit confusing and long. I would rather introduce some subtitles so that it is easier to organise my thoughts on each book!

This afternoon, after Mat finished work, he came to pick me up and I am staying at his for the rest of the weekend. I will probably be meeting with him quite a lot this week, as it is his Reading Week and so he's staying at home for it. We have had a bit of a lazy afternoon into evening and I'm currently sat here blogging while he plays Assassin's Creed 4 (seriously, I've said this before, awesome game!) I plan to be quite productive tomorrow, I have to get some Multimedia done in time for my lecture on Monday, and hopefully I can sort those book reviews too (if I don't do it tonight).

The rest of my evening will probably consist of a bit of reading. I really do need to catch up, I'm falling behind and the end of February is fast approaching! Also, I must start to plan what I'm going to read in March. I've had a sneak peek at my challenge categories and it looks like I'm going to have to go book shopping/borrowing if I am going to get books that meet the requirements. Not to worry, I love doing that!

Daily Shenanigans, 03/02/2014: Lazy day.

Today has definitely been one of my more unproductive days. I spent a good majority of the morning in just my pyjamas, catching up on some YouTube videos that I have missed over the last few days from my subscriptions (Namely Markiplier, if you are fond of Gaming Channels as I am, particularly Horror Games, then check him out. He's fantastic and does a lot of stuff for charity!) Upon realising that I had to leave for work in the next couple of hours, I hauled myself from the sofa and got ready to go. An uneventful drive, followed by an uneventful work shift makes for a very boring blog post unfortunately. But I told myself I would write these every day and I will keep that promise. This evening has mostly consisted of being lazy again, watching the TV ('QI' to be exact, seriously Stephen Fry just makes me so happy) and trying to think about what I would write about tonight.

So I have decided to try and be more productive and interesting tomorrow, in order to make the related blog post a little more worth reading. I'll be getting up early to drop my Mum off at work (such a good daughter, seeing as it's my day off) and I'll have most of the day to myself. I have a few things to do for Uni (naturally, when would I ever have a break from that?) then some major working on my Goodreads account and reading to be getting on with. I'm really getting back into 'It' very quickly so I am going to keep at that one for a while and see how I go. If progress is slow, I may post a review or two of previously read books so that I can really get a bit more variety into this blog. I hope also to start participating in a few challenges just to get things up and running! On Goodreads, I have pledged to read 35 books (aiming high...) this year in the 2014 book challenge and I'm already 1 book behind schedule. A lot of my planned reads are long, I may have to pick a few short ones to bump up that figure.

Hopefully I'll have a more interesting post tomorrow! I did score a personal best of 22 on 'Flappy Bird'. So I suppose that's something.
