Daily Shenanigans, 17/07/2014: Going on Holiday for a week! Potential hiatus!

I've mentioned a couple of times that I'm off to Wales for a week or so, and what I actually failed to mention is that this means I won't have access to my Laptop or Wi-Fi. Therefore, the only way I'll be able to post to this blog is via Mobile Data, if I even manage to get that. Here is the plan: I will be reading while I am there. I will keep copious notes of my thoughts and try to write mini reviews on Goodreads. The proper reviews will probably have to wait until I return however. With regards to the various Memes I take part in, I will try to have scheduled posts up but no promises. In fact without knowing of Llangollen's 3G signal, I can't even promise Daily posts. All I can say is I'll do my best! I am really looking forward to this Holiday though, and maybe some time away from the blog will do me some good!

My day generally was a good one, and very productive actually! I managed to do a lot of packing, read a whole book, write my reviews and Life Of A Blogger post, and a whole bunch of other things. I also got hold of the two books I'd bought from Tesco, so I can't wait to find time to get stuck into those! My next read will be 'Queen Of The Tearling', followed by 'Poison Study'. I look forward to starting those. Obviously tomorrow I'm off to Mat's, then to Wales, so in case I end up leaving the Blog alone, I hope you all have a nice week!

Daily Shenanigans, 14/07/2014: 'Richard III'.

If I could I would go to the theatre every day. I absolutely love it, and today's trip to see Trafalgar Transformed's adaption of Richard III was no exception to that rule. Mat arrived at mine about mid morning and we set about completing tasks before heading off to London. Firstly, Mat sorted out our consoles so that we could set about selling the ones we don't need anymore in preparation for our new flat. While he was doing that I decided to update my CV as it truly needed to be done. We had lunch then headed off to London. We actually spent most of our afternoon back and forth on the tube, travelling first to Stratford before returning to Central London. The intention was to spend the afternoon job hunting before having a nice evening and we were pretty productive. After getting lots done, we headed to a nearby Italian restaurant for some dinner.

After dinner we walked across the road to the Trafalgar Studios, picked up our tickets and then eagerly awaited the show. It was fantastic! I had a faint idea about the synopsis of the play though I actually had not ever seen it performed before or studied it. The first thing I noticed was the really cool set, which looked like something out of a 1970s war film. It was amazingly realistic, it even had lifts which I was so impressed by. The soundtrack was really attention grabbing, ever-present and adding plenty of atmosphere. I loved the costume designs too, it was a wonderful adaption of the play. Martin Freeman as the titular character was just phenomenal (and hilarious) I thought he did a great job at playing the villain. I was pretty impressed by the whole cast actually! 

I'm currently so tired, I'm having a lay in tomorrow before doing more jobs. 

Daily Shenanigans, 26/06/2014: A trip to Town!

Today was pretty productive in terms of blog stuff. I started the day off writing my 'Life Of A Blogger' post. Then later on in the day I finished and reviewed Neil Gaiman's 'The Graveyard Book' which was a thoroughly enjoyable read. Most of my day however has actually been spent with Mat, who came with me to the bank today as I need to upgrade my account. We did also get a McDonalds but I heavily regretted this afterwards as I'd been feeling strange that morning, and it made me feel so much worse. I felt so awful in fact that I missed out on a meal with work friends because my stomach felt awful. Mat went home earlier than usual and I rested and read for the rest of the evening. 

Tomorrow I'll be reading more of John Green's 'Paper Towns' as I've made a start. I also have to pick up a parcel from the sorting office so I hope I feel better. 

Daily Shenanigans, 24/06/2014: Battling the Headache!

When I went to bed last night, I had such a good feeling about all the good things I would accomplish today. Then when I woke up this morning I had another of my headaches from hell. I only seem to get them when the air is particularly humid, as if it's about to storm, so I figure they're a result of weird air pressure. They're so painful though I was convinced I would get very little done. How wrong I was! Firstly, I completed my 'Top Ten Tuesday' post. Today's topic was so fun, I really love being involved in this meme! After that, I finished the last few chapters of 'The Bees' and my goodness, it was such a good book. I'm so glad I read it, I thoroughly enjoyed it! I got time to make a fairly decent start on my first ever Neil Gaiman read ('The Graveyard Book'), and I'm enjoying it a lot! It fits in with a couple of challenges, and it has been recommended to me a fair amount. I can't wait to work my way through it. 

Other than being extremely productive I haven't done an awful lot. I sent off my interview questions (first ever set) for an author, in preparation for a blog tour post in July! I'm just shocked I've managed to be so productive, despite feeling pretty wretched today. Tomorrow I'll hopefully have another review up (I am storming through books all of a sudden) but I also have work so we'll see how far I get. After 'The Graveyard Book', I'm reading 'Paper Towns', another John Green book which I'm really excited about.

Daily Shenanigans, 23/06/2014: Lots of reading progress!

I have had such a productive day. As you all know I finished 'One Hundred Years Of Solitude' yesterday and posted the review this morning. Well today I've read all but the last few chapters of 'The Bees' by Laline Paull and again, the review will be up tomorrow. I can't believe how much I've read today! It's not even as if I haven't had other things to do, as I spent a good majority of the day with Mat. We spent half the day at his house, and half at mine. The weather was really hot (almost stiflingly so) so it was good to get out of the house for a bit. I also took a break from reading after Mat had gone to play The Sims 3 for a few hours so I've definitely been doing other things today.

Tomorrow I would have been working, but I've swapped my shift to Wednesday and so instead, I'll be doing even more reading as well as posting my Top Ten Tuesday. I have plenty to be getting on with in terms of preparation for future posts too, so hopefully tomorrow will serve as a really productive blog day.

Daily Shenanigans, 22/06/2014: Being positive!

So if I was feeling a bit strange and upset yesterday, I definitely felt better today, and a lot more productive too! Firstly, I have filled in and sent off the application form to live in the potential new flat. Just talking about it today has really excited me and I am looking forward to hopefully securing it once and for all! I did also post my 'Weekly Wishlist' today which was new flat related. I felt like being a bit different today. My main achievement which I've only just achieved however was finishing 'One Hundred Years Of Solitude' at last! The review will of course go up tomorrow as it's late now, but I'm keen to get started on my next read. Generally I've just had an awesome day and got plenty of jobs completed. Hooray!

Tomorrow I'm seeing Mat for a hefty chunk of the day, reading and catching up on emails that I keep forgetting to send. 

Daily Shenanigans, 13/06/2014: Doing things differently!

Today ended up being quite different to my usual day since finishing Uni. I made a decision to give myself a break from being sat at my computer today, purely because I had a pretty terrible headache and I really wanted to get on with other things. This of course meant that I didn't do much in terms of my blog. I did however get much further into 'A Game Of Thrones', which I'm really enjoying. I definitely feel like watching the TV series has made me appreciate this book even more! Anyhow, I did a lot of tidying this morning as a sort of surprise for my Dad because I'm generally a pretty unproductive person when it comes to household chores. I really recognise this as a flaw within myself which I'm determined to address.

This afternoon, I continued to have an interesting day when my friend, Imogen, came to visit! We drank tea, caught up with each other's antics and she bought me a cute Totoro pillow which served as part of a very late birthday present (she'd accidentally had it delivered to her Uni address while living at home). I've included a picture because it's so soft and awesome and really wanted to show you guys! This was the same friend who bought me chocolates and a set of Lewis Carroll books a few weeks ago and it made me feel really grateful to have friends in my life who know me this well. Thank you Imogen! After dinner, Bev (my sister) had her photography exhibition which we went to have a look at. Going back to my old school was very surreal but it was nice to revisit everything and see how it has changed! The exhibition was great, there are a lot of talented photographers and artists about.

And so ends my day of doing things a bit differently. Tomorrow I'm seeing Mat and we may go to the cinema in the evening depending on timings and what is on. He'll be round in the afternoon so I'll be using the morning to hopefully really get into 'A Game Of Thrones' and finish some tasks that really need finishing!

Daily Shenanigans, 12/06/2014: Father's Day Shopping!

I spent quite a lot of time getting things done today! Firstly, Mat came round so that we could both go into town and to the Opticians. My prescription has stayed the same (hooray!) but I decided to get myself a pair of prescription sunglasses so that I can drive better when it's ultra sunny! As well as this, I had a quick scout around town and bought some Father's Day (this Sunday for us Brits) bits and bobs! When I got home, I got straight to work in catching up with my Bloglovin' feed, sending a variety of emails, and writing my 'Life Of A Blogger' post! This week's topic was really fun! I did also read a bit more 'Game Of Thrones' so that was good. I went to Sainsburys with my sister in the evening to get some more bits and found myself splashing out on some room spray (I have a bit of a thing for scents), a Writing Magazine, and some Logic Puzzles.

Tomorrow I'm seeing a friend of mine for most of the day so I won't have much time to myself. I'll also be going to my sister's Photography Exhibition in the evening, how exciting!

Daily Shenanigans, 10/06/2014: Playing catch-up!

Well folks, I had a whole day to myself today but I've been extremely busy! I tried to find time to finish my Guest Post but could only manage to write a bit more as I want it to be perfect and at the moment it isn't. I've had so much to do blog and reading-wise too! I posted my 'Top Ten Tuesday' list, wrote a review after I finished 'Stolen Songbird', caught up as best I could on my Bloglovin' feed, started 'Game Of Thrones' (my next read) and I've been trying to work on some Author interview questions too in preparation for a Blog Tour in July! Phew! I've never done an Author Interview before and the Perfectionist in me really wants to get this right so fingers crossed I work this out. I did have time to look at my stats today and I have to say guys that I'm shocked! While I haven't been watching, my page views per day seem to have doubled and at times tripled from the 50-80 that they used to be to a steady 100-150 at least. My highest in the last few days has been over 400 page views and I'm totally astounded! Thank you all so much for the sudden interest and support, it really makes me feel like I must be doing something right!

Tomorrow I have work in the afternoon till the evening, so I'll have a little less time on my hands. I will be working my socks off on catching up with my rather slow-starting June though, rest assured! I'm catching the train too, so yippee! Extra reading time!

Daily Shenanigans, 09/06/2014: Guest post!

So, I've ended up being a very busy bee today actually! I'll start off by saying that the weather was tremendously hot, though it has rained quite a lot and we've even had a Thunder Storm this evening. Hopefully the air will be a little less humid now! I started the morning off playing a little bit of The Sims 3 and reading a rather hefty portion of 'Stolen Songbird'. I am enjoying this book so much and I can't wait to finish and review it for you guys! Mat came over about mid-morning and has spent quite a lot of it fussing over me on account of my hurting foot after yesterday's little trip down the stairs (...that was a terrible pun, my apologies). I also finally got round to posting a separate page for reviews, so they can be found more easily. I am glad I have the time to be improving upon my blog in the way that I want to at last! Mat and I did pop into town today to do a few bits and bobs, but other than that it has been very much a day of relaxation. While in town, I did buy Season 2 of 'Game Of Thrones' on Blu-Ray and we watched a couple of episodes today. I am thoroughly addicted to that series.

After Mat left, I began to work on a post that I've been keeping secret up until now. The lovely ladies over on Oh, The Books! have recently put out a call for all newbie bloggers (if your blog has started in the last six months) to write a guest post for them to put on their own blog (click here if you're interested). It's a wonderful idea and though it took me a while to pluck up the courage to say I would do it, I'm glad I have volunteered. I've started on the post today. It isn't quite finished, and I haven't been given a set date for when it will go up but I shall keep you all updated as I know more! I'm extremely excited! 

Tomorrow I will try and finish it, and then send it onto them. I shall also be posting my 'Top Ten Tuesday' list and hopefully reviewing my current read too. Busy, busy!

Daily Shenanigans, 08/06/2014: Conquering the beast!

I have read books in the past and felt a small satisfaction when finishing them. But never to the scale of the satisfaction I felt today, when I finished 'The Luminaries'. I don't mean that in a negative way necessarily, only that I think I severely underestimated this book and am glad that I persevered and finished anyway! My next read, as mentioned before, will be 'Stolen Songbird' by Danielle L. Jensen. I'm very much looking forward to it! My day has been filled with blogging, reading and playing on The Sims 3 (particularly the latter). I managed to post a review and my Weekly Wishlist today so I'm pretty pleased with how much I've actually got done. I've got a lot of catching up to do though! 

Tomorrow I'll be doing much of the same, though I'll be seeing Mat for most of the day before he heads off to work in the evening. I'm looking forward to it! Time to head to bed and rest right now though, I just fell down the stairs so my foot is killing me!

Daily Shenanigans, 01/06/2014: 'Maleficent'.

So today was a lovely day off, but I did get a surprising amount done. Actually I was pretty productive! I've made a start on 'The Luminaries' and it's pretty enjoyable so far. I'm intrigued to see where this one will lead. In fact I spent a good bit of the day reading, doing blog stuff and generally relaxing. I posted two other posts today, my 'Planned Reads For June' and my 'Weekly Wishlist' which I really enjoyed writing! I did also create a review archive page, which I plan to show on my blog ASAP. It was satisfying to put all of my reviews in one place, and I can't wait to add to it! This evening, I went to pick Mat up from work and then we headed to his and watched another episode of 'Game Of Thrones'. Well, most of it anyway. We had to stop ten minutes before the end to go to the cinema.

It was worth the interruption though because this evening I watched 'Maleficent'. I think it's going to be pretty hard to put into words how excited I was for this film. It looked like it was going to take Sleeping Beauty's story down a similar path that 'Wicked' did with 'The Wizard Of Oz'. I worried that I would be disappointed, but now I realise I had nothing to worry about at all. It was a stunning film. They made a few changes to the story but that was really to be expected. The visuals, first off, were stunning. Particularly some of the scenes set in the land of the Fairies. These were among my favourite, the huge amount of imagination that went into this film was something to behold. I actually really did like the story itself too. 

Angelina Jolie did a wonderful job as the titular character. I'm not an overly big fan of hers and I worried that I wouldn't enjoy her performance, but she was perfect for the role! Cold-hearted and cruel, but with hidden depths that were a joy to discover. I also really loved Imelda Staunton as Knotgrass and Elle Fanning played Aurora wonderfully. Again, I worried that I might find her annoying, but I found instead the complete opposite! Sharlto Copley was great as the mad King Stefan but for me the star performance came from Sam Riley as Diaval the Raven. I found him to be so funny and they really made his character a memorable one.

All in all, a fantastic film with great costumes and a beautiful soundtrack to boot! Tomorrow I'm working again but I plan to squeeze in a lot of reading around my shift. I have to get the train tomorrow, so I will certainly be able to use that time to my advantage.

Daily Shenanigans, 18/05/2014: The entire 'Frozen' soundtrack is stuck in my head.

I feel like my day has been really productive. To start with, I tidied my room! It has really become very messy over the last few weeks and I've been putting the job off for a very long time (procrastination is something I'm very good at). But I decided that enough was enough and I've cleared away so many things, including the piles of books that were scattered around everywhere!  I managed to post my 'Weekly Wishlist' eventually too and I'm pretty happy with this particular selection! After doing all of those jobs, I watched 'Frozen' with my family. I had forgotten how much I loved about that film and was so glad I found time to get round to it and relax a bit!

Other than that, I'm currently about to finish Terri Bruce's 'Thereafter' and the review for that will be up tomorrow! I bought a couple of things for myself. The first was an item that appeared on one of my Wishlists and I really wanted to get hold of, 'The Cabinet Of Curiosities' by Guillermo Del Toro. As it's non-fiction, I don't think it counts in my book buying ban. The other was a free Kindle read, 'Beckoning Light' by Alyssa Rose Ivy. I really love checking back on all the books I have on my Kindle Wishlist and realising one has dropped in price.

Tomorrow I have work, but other than that I plan to be just as productive as today, in terms of reading, blogging and Uni work.

Daily Shenanigans, 07/05/2014: A light at the end of the tunnel?

Okay, so I mentioned yesterday that I have a lot of work to do! That still sort of stands, but after today I am proud to announce I have a lot less to do! Thank goodness! I went into Uni this morning and just really concentrated on things that desperately needed doing, (as well as going to a tutorial to help me with my essay). I'm particularly proud of myself because thanks to a little help from a friend of mine, I got a lot of work done on my Multimedia programming! Hooray! I have an essay filled day on my hands tomorrow but then after that the only thing left to worry about is my Multimedia performance! The date has had to be changed again so that is now being performed on the 21st May (not too far away). I'm so excited but also really aware that I still have plenty to do so I'm still not far through reading 'Cuckoo Song'. No ARC review for that one I'm afraid!

Daily Shenanigans, 22/04/2014: Things are looking up?

It is amazing how much one conversation can change your mood. I have not been happy as of late, in fact I've been beyond stressed. After talking to my Module Tutor today, we both decided it would be best if the date of my Multimedia Project changed in order to give me a bit more time to get things sorted. I'm so relieved! Having got that changed, I spent the rest of the day being ultra productive! Of course, I got my Top Ten Tuesday post up, which was a lot of fun to devise this week, and I also did a lot of Uni work. So I'm a very happy girl indeed!

I've received a couple of exciting emails, talking about a couple of the NetGalley reads I've been approved for (one of which is new, Stant Litore's 'No Lasting Burial'). I'm really excited, it looks like pretty good things are coming this way for my blog and I'm very happy! I can't wait to share some of these things with you! I'm struggling to think of things that have happened today, other than a lot of Uni related things. I got a little further through 'The Hunger Games', I'm really enjoying this book so far. I was worried that having seen the movie would make the book not so enjoyable to me, but I have loved some of the deeper insight we get into the characters with the book, while spotting some of my favourite quotes from the film! I can't wait to finish and review it!

Tomorrow involves more Uni, I'm back there now from Easter so there'll be a lot of days like this as I attempt to get things done in time for various deadlines. Then in the evening, I'm off to London ready to watch McBusted on Thursday night and return on Friday! I'm so unbelievably excited I don't think I can express it properly, and I can't wait to tell you guys all about it!

Daily Shenanigans, 21/04/2014: A new Blog look!

You may well have noticed but I've changed the design of my blog! Hooray! It was something I've wanted to do for a while but I've put off for a long time because for one, I was terrified that it would take me a long time, and secondly, I'm pretty rubbish at these kinds of things. As it turns out, my sister and I did it together (she's a lot better than me at things like Photoshop) and I found that actually it only took half an hour at most. Most of my day was spent doing work and catching up on things that needed doing, but it was a fun little distraction to give myself a break! I really like this new design, it's certainly a lot more along the lines of what I originally wanted this blog to look like, so we'll see how long it takes me to come up with a new idea/get bored!

While doing work today, I did also find time to watch 'Thor: The Dark World' with my family (and catch the end of 'Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban' on TV). Two very good films that helped to cheer me up a bit I suppose. They were just what the Doctor ordered when all you  have to look forward to is a day of being busy doing work. I'm off to Uni tomorrow for my first official day back after Easter, something which I have very mixed feelings about. On the one hand, I've got a lot to do and have not been able to get as much done as I'd hoped over Easter so I'm happy that I can be a bit productive. But a day sat at a Mac computer doing non-stop work does not sound ideal to me. Hopefully I won't get too bored, as I'll be there for a while.

Daily Shenanigans, 01/04/2014: April Fool's Day!

That's right, today is April Fools Day. I haven't been on the receiving end of much trickery today, but one thing I did do was a lot of blogging. And I mean a lot! Including this one, I posted a total of four posts today! Firstly, I shared my Planned Reads for April which I'm really excited about. As well as that, I shared my Top Ten Tuesday and signed up to the Bookish Bingo challenge I mentioned yesterday, so I'm very excited to get started on that!

Other than that, I had to give my car a bit of a wash this morning (though not very successfully) because this strange dust stuff had gotten all over it! It's still pretty smeary but a lot better than it was before, so it looks like someone professional is going to have to do it because I'm not very good at it. I'm not entirely sure what the dust is, it was all over my car and my Dad's, and it looks like sand! Most odd! After that, I went to get some fuel, then sped off to Uni to get some more work done and help my friend with hers! I was there till pretty late this evening, but had a nice day nonetheless. The weather today was beautiful!

Tonight after posting this, I'm going to make some serious headway with 'Tithe'. Ideally I want to finish it and review it tomorrow, or if not, by Thursday. This is because I have a lot of reading to do this month and I can't allow myself to fall far behind like last month! Tomorrow is looking pretty full, I'm in Uni at some point tomorrow morning, followed by work in the afternoon. Still, I'll have the evening to get things done!

Daily Shenanigans, 31/03/2014: Back to work!

I've been extra productive today and got a lot done, which I'm very proud of! Firstly, I put up my 'March Wrap-Up Post', which is doubling as my wrap-up for the 'Real Books' challenge I'm in. Secondly, I read a little more of 'Tithe', and managed to get some Coursework done too! Other than that, I spent this morning writing and scheduling my 'Planned Reads For April' post, which I'm looking forward to seeing go up tomorrow morning. I'm so excited about these reads guys, I can't wait to share them with you!

I spent my afternoon at work, which went fairly quickly I suppose, before going into Uni for an hour or so to meet a friend and arrange our meet-up for getting stuff done tomorrow. I haven't seen her since the stress that was Show Week so it was nice to catch up! Other than that, today was a pretty laid back day actually. I bought another read for the Kindle, free of course, which was 'Winter Solstice Winter' by E.J. Squires. I need to curb the Kindle downloading a bit, I've got plenty to keep me going! Oh, also, 'Angelfall' by Susan Ee arrived today, which means I'm all caught up with parcels that should be arriving (other than Giveaway wins). Hooray!

I also saw an extra challenge that I'm keen to take part in. I've seen a few other sign up entries on Bloglovin' and it looks like a great challenge! It's a 'Bookish Bingo' Challenge, hosted by Great Imaginations. I plan to look into it a little more over the next couple of days, and sign up to it for a bit of fun, as it runs over April, May and June! Check out the links to have a look! Daily Shenanigans, 30/03/2014: Mother's Day!

I had a really lovely, family-oriented day today folks! It was really nice! There's a lot to talk about today so prepare yourselves. The clocks went forward an hour, and so I lost an hour's sleep! I wasn't too upset though, despite being tired because I woke up in an inexplicably good mood (this is what Marvel films do to me). For Mother's Day, we got Mum a gift voucher for a clothes store and some puzzle books (she's Sudoku mad). I was then left for the rest of the morning to have a bath and be productive, which I was. I finally finished 'The Telling Error'. I'm really not sure why it took me so long to read, it wasn't a particularly long book.

I posted my Weekly Wishlist, which took quite a while to compile today, and my review for the previously mentioned book! I also have made a pretty good start on 'Tithe' by Holly Black, my next chosen read so I'm quite a happy bunny on the reading front at the moment. Now here comes the long bit. I also went out on a little shopping trip with the family today, and my naughty sister persuaded me to come and look at the books with her. She knew I wouldn't be able to resist and I entirely blame on her on my subsequent purchases:

As much as I love paperback books, this needs to stop. Seriously I have an addiction! So all in all, a good book turnout today! I took some time to help Bev, my sister, with her Photography coursework as well which was a lot of fun! I spent the rest of the evening eating a lovely curry with the family, drafting my Wrap-Up post for this month in preparation for tomorrow, and watching a few videos while reading. Oh and desperately hunting down the 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' soundtrack, which I can't find to listen to anywhere. I'm devastated!

I told you this would be a long one! Tomorrow I will probably be going to Uni to do some work (even though it's Easter Break, I still have a lot to do for Multimedia) and I have an actual Work Shift too!

Daily Shenanigans, 27/03/2014: Goodreads sort out!

I've had a bit of a lazy day today if I'm being honest. I didn't really have all that much to do other than a few chores around the house. Excitedly though, I won another Goodreads 'First Reads' giveaway! Today's win is an exciting one, 'Good Kings, Bad Kings' by Susan Nussbaum. It looks very good and I can't wait for it to arrive! 

I'm afraid I've been very bad with my reading today, though I will do some tonight before bed. I spent a lot of my day working on blog stuff, including today's 'Life Of A Blogger' post, for which the topic was 'Favourite Animals'. I really am enjoying this meme and look forward to next week's interesting choice, 'Handwriting'. As well as that, I caught up with my Bloglovin' Feed a little and managed to re-organise and tidy up my Goodreads account a bit. It's becoming a bit of a mess.

Other than that, today has been pretty uneventful. I have a couple of bits and bobs to do tomorrow before seeing Mat, including a trip up town and hopefully making a lot more headway with this book! I also have a couple of posts to plan, so lots to do!
