Planned Reads for April.

So, a lot of these are going to be repeats from last month. I want to read those books so badly, and I'm a bit gutted that I couldn't get to them!

I am currently reading Adam Silvera's 'They Both Die At the End' and although the way this book finishes is somewhat inevitable, I am loving it so far! I should have read this book sooner.

I have been dying to read the last book in Danielle L. Jensen's fantasy series, 'Warrior Witch', and I will certainly do so this month. I so badly want to progress in a series, and here's my chance to finally get through one once and for all!

I'm pretty heavily invested in getting through some of these gorgeous-looking 2018 releases too. 'The Belles' by Dhonielle Clayton is one such release and looks to be a diverse read with great world-building and a fun plot. I'm looking forward to it!

Don't think I've forgotten my favourite female superhero of last year! I'm an even bigger fan of Leigh Bardugo now that I've started her 'Six Of Crows' series and so 'Wonder Woman: Warbringer' is top of the priority list. I'm excited to see what she does with such an iconic character!

'The Astonishing Colour Of After' by Emily X.R. Pan is one of my most anticipated reads of 2018 and when you look at that cover, you see why! Grief, loss and suicide are prevalent themes, and the book gives me a chance to read about a new culture!

Yet another month goes by and I still haven't read 'The Outliers' by Kimberly McCreight. It looks like a great thriller, a genre that doesn't normally appeal to me, and that cover is stunning. I hope I get to it this month without distractions!

While 'Orangeboy' was a book I liked, I'm hoping that Patrice Lawrence's 'Indigo Donut' will blow me away! I adore the covers for her books and it's another book set in London which I always appreciate. I'm hoping for more East London references because that's where I'm currently living!

I've been debating where to start in C.S. Lewis' classic series (hence why it's taken me so long to get to) hut I've finally decided on 'The Magician's Nephew'. It might not be the publishing order but the particular set I own places it first and I can't stand to read them out of order.

Planned Reads For February.

Finally, February is here! I have some extremely exciting reads lined up for this month as well. I'm going to be doing a lot of catching up on series I've yet to start/finish, and I'm going to be reading some exciting new releases too! Cover-wise, I have to say that February is looking a lot more colourful than January did.

I am currently reading 'Wintersong' by S. Jae-Jones right now and I am loving it. I think we've pretty much established from some of my recent reads that I've become enamoured with fantasy novels about the fae/faeries, and I've especially become a little obsessed with Goblins. This book is giving me fantastic Labyrinth vibes (which is one of my favourite films) but also seems a little darker and sexier, which I'm enjoying immensely.

I've also been looking forward to reading this second novel in the 'Lady Helen' series by Alison Goodman, 'The Dark Days Pact'. I read the ARC of book one a couple of years ago and was surprised by how much I loved shipping Lady Helen and Carlston, and how good a paranormal retelling it was of the classic love story 'Pride & Prejudice'.  I look forward to catching up with this series.

I am truly sorry for how long it has taken me to read this next choice. I think I've been vowing to read Taran Matharu's 'The Novice' for over a year now, and I just never quite get round to it. I shan't let it slip through my fingers this month though, I promise! I'm actually pretty excited to get into a proper fantasy series again!

I read 'The Bees' by Laline Paull so long ago, and I was hoping to get round to 'The Ice' last month but didn't quite make it. Not to worry though, as it's top of the priority list for February! The synopsis sounds really intriguing, and I think there needs to be more books focussing on friendship.

This next read is a pretty hotly anticipated read for this year by most of the blogosphere. I'm set on reading more diverse books this year (I always aim to expand my reading) and that cover alone convinces me that 'The Belles' by Dhonielle Clayton is something to be exciting about. The fantasy world sounds interesting enough but I've been careful to avoid reading too much about this one. I want to go in with fresh eyes.

Being sent an ARC of 'Goodbye, Perfect' by Sara Barnard was very exciting for me. I have read both of her previous books and loved them, and reading the synopsis for this one makes me think she's going to go a little darker this time. I love contemporary reads that aren't afraid of their subject matter. Barnard has a track record for diversity and inclusion in her work, so I'm excited by that too!

I have been putting off finishing this series for too long now and it's driving me insane because I've enjoyed it so much! 'Warrior Witch' by Danielle L. Jensen is going to be the final chapter in Cécile and Tristan's story and I am sincerely hoping for a happy ending. They've had it pretty rough so far! Also, seeing as I'm a big fan of mystical creatures right now, I want to go back to the land of the trolls!

I'm really sad I haven't read any of Adam Silvera's books. Not one. But this Edelweiss read, is set to change all that and become my first proper LGBT+ read of the year! Yay! 'They Both Die At The End' is probably going to break me in a hundred million different ways, lets face it, especially if the title is anything to go by. But it has a very intriguing synopsis and I need to start reading more books that I'm scared will make me cry.

Planned Reads For August.

August has me really excited for a number of reasons, despite the rainy weather predicted! A lot of my friends and family are getting married and I have big plans for the coming month, but also I have so many great reads lined up!

'If I Was Your Girl' by Meredith Russo: This is my current read, and one I'm really enjoying at the moment. I'd hoped to finish it last month but alas, time was not on my side. Still, so far this is a really thought-provoking book on the subject of being trans, also covering depression, bullying, mental health and friendship. I've certainly got high hopes for the rest of the book!

'The Sun Is Also A Star' by Nicola Yoon: That's right guys, my first ever Nicola Yoon read! It's a romance which would normally instantly turn me off, but I've heard some really good things about Yoon's writing, and I have to say that 2017 seems to be my year for giving Contemporary YA romance a chance. Now is as good a time as any!

'Not A Drop To Drink' by Mindy McGinnis: When I say this book has been on my TBR forever I almost mean it! It was one of my first adds when I joined Goodreads and the blogging community for the first time, and I literally only got round to buying it just recently. Anyway, I haven't read a good dystopian fiction in ages, and I like that this focuses on natural disasters and droughts as the root of the problem rather than a major Government conspiracy.

'Flame In The Mist' by Renée Ahdieh: Did I ever tell you guys that I have always wanted to visit Japan? No? It's one of my biggest bucket list items. That's why this book looks right up my street. I love the classic 'girl dresses up as boy' storyline and Mulan is one of my favourite films for that reason. I'm so very pumped to read this historical fantasy and I really hope I love it.

'The Geek Feminist Revolution' by Kameron Hurley: I saw this book while looking for good non-fiction on the subject of fandom and feminism. It looks perfect! The cover really got me, I must admit. But this looks to be a well reviewed collection of essays, and I'm looking forward to getting into more non-fiction books anyway!

'The Outliers' by Kimberly McCreight: I had this book down for last month and I was so excited about it! I think it would be a really great Summer read! So I'm going to give it another go this month. While thrillers aren't usually my scene, I have to applaud the unusual and eye-catching cover (most books of this genre look basically the same to me).

'The Satellite' by Nick Lake: I am really in the mood for some science fiction guys, and a cover involving the moon and an astronaut with the title 'Satellite' emblazoned across it looks about as spacey as it gets. It's been a while since I've read something of this genre (or something due to be released this year), and I'm particularly thankful that I received an ARC of this one!

'Ivory & Bone' by Julie Eshbaugh: This book screams summer read to me for some reason. Maybe it's because it's set in prehistoric times which makes me think of Neanderthals roaming hot, dry deserts? Anyway, it's a retelling of the classic Pride & Prejudice story with some twists by the looks of it, but I'm more excited about reading a book set in a period of history that was so long ago. Exciting!

Planned Reads For July.

It took me quite a while to compose this list, Summer just really gets me in the reading mood and choosing from my huge TBR is hard. I narrowed it down, but I really can't promise I'll stick to it...

'The Sleeping Prince' by Melinda Salisbury and Emily Barr's 'The One Memory Of Flora Banks' are on the list because they are two of the books I didn't quite get to last month and really do want to read before I commit to this month's planned reads.

  1. 'The Final Empire' by Brandon Sanderson. Summer is the time for an epic fantasy or two because it makes me think of far-off places and distant lands. As 'Green Rider' didn't quite give me the full fantasy experience, I really want to give this one a try. My friends all loved it, as did most of the book community. It's been on my TBR for way too long.
  2. 'Ivory & Bone' by Julie Eshbaugh. This was actually a Summer release and retells the classic 'Romeo & Juliet' but with a twist - it's set in prehistoric times! I've definitely never read a book with that setting, it should certainly be interesting. I hope it's done well because it looks awesome! Plus, I really need to get through some more Edelweiss reads!
  3. 'What Is Not Yours, Is Not Yours' by Helen Oyeyemi. What is a TBR of mine without something that is to do with fairy tales? I've wanted to read something by Helen Oyeyemi for a long time. Her books are highly rated and I was delighted when Netgalley accepted my request for this book because it is right up my street!
  4. 'Only Ever Yours' by Louise O'Neill. So I'm a little scared about reading this because I know it covers some really heavy topics that I'm not entirely comfortable with. But I'm also really excited about it and I want to step outside of my comfort zone. I'm definitely going to try it out, and hopefully it won't freak me out too much.
  5. 'The Outliers' by Kimberly McCreight. I've been desperate to read this thriller for some time, because it looks so good! A series of clues, big mysteries, and friendships too! I am desperate for something a bit fast-paced that will totally hook me. I've got a good feeling about this book.
  6. 'If I Was Your Girl' by Meredith Russo. I am finally going to read this awesome sounding book focused on a trans MC! I've never read a book that has this kind of MC so it's actually really cool to finally be reading one. The cover is really cool as well, and I look forward to seeing how Russo handles this topic.

Planned Reads For June.

Gosh, are we really on the sixth month of 2017? I can't believe how quickly time has flown! I've been reading a lot better recently and fully believe I'm well on my way out of that horrible reading slump! I've got some great reads lined up this month too!

  1. 'A List Of Cages' by Robin Roe. My current read and one I've been anticipating all May, I'm glad it's going to be the first thing I finish this month! I am enjoying it at the moment, though I wasn't sure to begin with, and I'm hoping for a really great middle and end to start the month off well!
  2. 'Green Rider' by Kristen Britain. This book has been in my collection for ages and every time I see that awesome cover I feel my fingers itching to pick it up. I'm definitely going to get round to it this month and I'm really looking forward to it because I actually feel guilty about leaving this series for so long!

  1. 'One Of Us Is Lying' by Karen M. McManus. 'Pretty Little Liars' is one of those series that has fascinated yet evaded me, and I'm hearing that this teenage high-school thriller shares some similarities. I've always been fascinated by just how deeply American students fall int stereotypes such as Geeks, Jocks etc. and I think this book will be interesting because of that. Also, who doesn't like a good mystery from time to time.
  2. 'The Sleeping Prince' by Melinda Salisbury. Much of the blogosphere loved the first book in this series, 'The Sin Eater's Daughter', while I only thought it was okay. They main ship, Lief (the most arrogant, annoying love interest I've ever had the displeasure of meeting) and Twylla (a naive Mary-Sue who frankly bored me) was most of the problem. This book follows Lief's sister however, and promises to be a better read. I'm hoping Errin will be more badass than Twylla and any love interest she meets along the way won't be so awful.
  3. 'Release' by Patrick Ness. AHHHHH! I can't believe I got a copy of this! I'm so excited! Seriously, Patrick Ness is a great writer and I'm so hyped about the release of this book. I can't wait to read it! The cover is gorgeous, the synopsis is promising, and I am so not ready for what is coming. I have no doubt that it will live up to my high expectations!
  4. 'Good Bones' by Margaret Atwood. This collection of short stories, essays and musings also has me very intrigued. Margaret Atwood is a name that I have known for a while and has really caught my attention because she's a feminist (as am I) and I hear that her prose is very good.so I'm excited to finally read something of hers. This books comes highly recommended too!
  5. 'Things I Should Have Known' by Claire LeBeznik. I'm very intrigued by this story for a number of reasons, but mostly because I hear It portrays a very accurate depiction of Autism. The synopsis is curious to say the least, and I really want to see how LeBeznik approaches the idea of romance, the spectrum, mental health generally and family conflict. I haven't read many books with Autistic characters, so it should be a good experience!
  6. 'The One Memory Of Flora Banks' by Emily Barr. I'm a little nervous about this read because it has received such mixed reviews. Some people loved it, others claimed it was awful and I'm not quite sure who to believe. I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt however, though I'm hoping it turns out to be more than a cheesy romance because I really don't tend to enjoy those.

Planned Reads For March.

Picking books to read this month has actually been surprisingly easy, considering also that I've found it so hard in the past. I had a very clear idea that I wanted to move forward with a few series that I've started and not kept up to date with so that's what most of my reads are this month. Exciting!

  1. 'Golden Son'; Pierce Brown. Obviously this is the book that I started reading in February and will be finishing in March. I'm not very far through, I'll be honest. Hopefully I'll remember all the characters, it has been such a long time since I read 'Red Rising' and I'll probably have to readjust before I can get back into the story. I'm excited to be progressing with this series though!
  1. 'Seven Ways We Lie'; Riley Redgate. This is a YA Contemporary with a great synopsis! Abstract concepts such as the Seven Deadly Sins are really interesting to me so I am so excited about this book. It's released this month too, so I'm lucky that Netgalley let me have a copy in advance. High School Drama is not normally my thing but from what I can tell, there is a lot of diversity in this one and each of the seven POVs has a great plot-line to follow. I can't wait!
  2. 'Read Me Like A Book'; Liz Kessler. I was approved by Netgalley to read this book last month after that gorgeous cover caught my eye. It looks like a pretty interesting book about exploring sexuality and the synopsis is pretty intriguing. I said at the beginning of the year that I don't read enough YA Contemporary so this and my previous choice is part of my effort to change that!
  3. 'Siege & Storm'; Leigh Bardugo. That's right. It's happening. I'm finally reading Book Two of this series. I don't know how to explain why I haven't got round to it already because I'm pretty sure it's been almost two years since I read and LOVED the first book. A thousand apologies and I really do aim to finish the entire series by the end of the year.
  4. 'The Tropic Of Serpents'; Marie Brennan. This series I started more recently but I really do not want to fall into the trap of constantly putting books in a series off. So this is me attempting to keep up. I really want to try and get through all the series I plan to continue before starting new ones. We'll see if that happens. Anyway, Isabella Trent had me roaring with laughter in Book One and I can't wait to see her spunky attitude in this next installment.
  5. 'The Invasion Of The Tearling'; Erika Johansen. I actually seriously considered quitting this series when I read it to begin with. I did give it a pretty good review, but upon reflection, actually found it pretty confusing and a little forgettable. However, seeing as I seemed to find so many good things amongst the bad before, I've decided to give Book Two a try and see how I get on. Plus, this is an Edelweiss read so I'm finally getting round to those!
  6. 'The Selection'; Kiera Cass. I know I just told you guys that I'm trying not to start new series but I figure this counts more as me catching up than trying something new. I remember when this series was a huge great hit, and everyone except me had read it. I downloaded it two years ago. Seriously, I want to be on a par with the rest of the reading world and this series is a big part of that.
Bonus Book...?

  1. 'Thorn'; Intisar Khanani. I'm pretty sure I tried having bonus books once upon a time and it didn't work out so well, but what the heck! I'm trying to push myself without becoming stressed so I'm setting myself a new goal of EIGHT books in one month and I'll see if I can beat it. This is actually only a short book too (about 250 pages) so it shouldn't take me long. It's a retelling of the Fairy Tale 'The Goose Girl' and it has been an age since I've been able to read a retelling! I hope I have time to read this story by Intisar Khanani, she is an awesome writer!

Planned Reads For January.

It's the start of a new year and it's time to announce what I'll be reading for the first month of 2016! I'm so excited for some of the reads I've chosen, and can't wait to share them with you.

Crossover Reads:

  1. 'The Lovely Bones'; Alice Sebold. I've already got through quite a bit of this book and I really am enjoying it a lot so far. I watched the movie a while back and really loved it so I've been wanting to actually read the book for a while.
  1. 'Dot'; Araminta Hall. I didn't get round to reading this book last month but it has been on my TBR for a very long time and I really want to get round to it. I got it from Edelweiss and it really does look so good! What with the snow on the front, it's definitely a good choice for winter time too!
  2. 'The Fox & The Star'; Coralie Bickford-Smith. I saw this book a while back and I really wanted it because it was so pretty. As soon as Christmas was over, I bought it for myself as a little present and I'm so excited to get to read it in the first month of this year. I have ever faith that I will love it!
  3. 'A Study In Scarlet'; Arthur Conan-Doyle. I've put the cover of the book I'll be reading from, but I don't plan on reading the complete collection just yet! Instead I'll be reading the first in the Sherlock Holmes series, 'A Study In Scarlet'. I watched the Sherlock Christmas special, 'The Abominable Bride' and it really put me in a Sherlock mood!
  4. 'Winter'; Marissa Meyer. Duh! I really don't have to explain myself for this one, I've already waited two months more than I wanted to wait. I'm excited to see how the series finishes after three strong books! Fingers crossed for happy endings all round!
  5. 'This Raging Light'; Estelle Laure. I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and really want to read it. I said I would be reading more new releases this year and this will be one of them. The book caught my attention in November when Illumicrate sent me a cute postcard, so I'm glad I get to read it.
  6. 'The Dark Days Club'; Alison Goodman. This is another new release that I will be reading this month, which I received an ARC for in the Maximum Pop! box that I won last month. I'm super excited because it looks really good and I haven't read a book involving demons for a while.
